I've been building this since 2022. It's where everything goes - notes, projects, finances, a media library, journals. Fully private, nothing to link to. But it's the thing I've spent the most time on, so it's here.
Moved away from Notion because I wanted to actually own my files. Plain markdown, stored locally, nothing on anyone else's server.
What's the structure?
Everything lives under _OBSIDIAN/databases/ - split into dedicated folders: notes/, projects/, tasks/, finances/, journals/, academics/, and library/. Each database has its own schema and Dataview queries. Yearly subfolders keep things from piling up.
Why Obsidian?
Local-first, plain markdown files, no subscription. I came from Notion and didn't like the idea of my journals sitting on someone else's servers. Everything here is mine.
Can I see it?
No. It's fully private and I'd like to keep it that way.
Why put it on your portfolio then?
Because I built it, and I've put real time into it. A portfolio doesn't have to be things other people can use.
