How I fell back in love with games.

A dattebow video essay.

Went through a full script of practical tips, rather than just telling people to “take a break” and leaving it there. Built it out of stuff that actually worked on me: switching genres when I got tired of shooters (went from CS:GO and Borderlands into Persona 5 Royal and Final Fantasy VI), replaying old favourites, even picking up a handheld specifically so I could keep playing games I cared about outside of my desk setup.

Title stayed as it was through a later rebrand pass, “lost your passion for gaming?” already asked the question instead of answering it, so there wasn’t anything to fix there. The thumbnail was the part that needed work. The original was a wojak-style face with “ENJOY GAMES AGAIN” in stroked red-and-white caps over a muddy game collage, loud in a way that didn’t read at small sizes and didn’t match anything else I’d made since. Replaced it with a plain white controller on one side and “it’s fixable.” on the other, lifted straight from the script’s own opening line.

Made a point of keeping the composition asymmetric, object on one side, text on the other, since another video on the channel around the same time used a centred-hardware layout and I didn’t want the two to read as the same thumbnail twice.
