A podcast episode Our Stories Lab needed help cutting down, multi-camera, about an hour of raw footage that had to come down to thirty minutes. Had to go pick up the drive in person too, roughly 120GB of footage on an SSD.
The difficulty was almost entirely in the revision process. Amendments came back through Google Docs across six full drafts, sometimes reversing notes I’d already applied from an earlier round, and replies between rounds were slow. It ran long enough that it overlapped with coursework, and the only reason it didn’t become a real scheduling problem is that Nasi Lemak Date ended up pushing the episode’s release date anyway, which bought room to actually get the cut right.
Probably the toughest client relationship I’ve had as an editor so far. Good practice in holding a cut together through a lot of conflicting feedback, but not an experience I’d go looking to repeat.
